Historic Porsche 911 3.5 litre race car.

Fully documented continuous race history with one owner since the 1980s.

The car was initially built from a 1972 911 to compete in the Australian Sports Car Championship in the mid 1980’s.   It then became one of the foundation vehicles of the Australian Porsche Cup series that commenced in 1987 and is one of only two cars from that series to remain in original racing condition (Peter Harburg recently sold other one). A rare part of Porsche racing history remaining in Australia.

In the early 1990’s, the BASF sponsored car dominated the Porsche Cup and also set many sports car lap records at various circuits in Australia.  At Amaroo Park, it eclipsed the record set by Allan Moffat in his works Porsche 934 Turbo which had won the 1980 Australian Sports Car Championship.

Powered by a high torque “twin-plug” 3.5-litre naturally aspirated 911 engine with RSR cams, the lightweight BASF Porsche has race suspension with RSR/935 inspired coil springs, adjustable rose jointed front suspension, lightweight body panels, RSR front brake calipers and turbo rear calipers.

With CAMS logbook the car is a reliable cost-effective package for track days and historic events.

This is the original BASF car, not a replica or restoration.

Priced at $195,950 AUD with some body parts, moulds, wheels, tyres and other mechanical spares.
