What a great day was yesterday – truly wonderful. Sydney put on absolutely perfect weather; and Porsche Club NSW conducted a great event including:
•180 entrants of all types of Porsche cars from very early 356 to the latest – a few non starters and they missed a great event.
•The NSW Police pursuit Porsche 991.
•An early single cylinder Porsche Tractor fully restored by one of our members Paul Muras – which received great interest and won the People Choice! Perhaps a little unusual for a Tractor to win a trophy at a car club event but the interest was enormous including a set up with the Police 991 with all lights flashing stopping the tractor and issuing a speeding infringement; and two other Porsche car owners coming out of the woodwork to advise they also have Porsche tractors in different stages of disassembly and now have an enthusiasm to restore them.
•A satellite dish to broadcast live the Bathurst 1000 in the Armory Theatre and in our Club hospitality marquee.
•Rotary clubs providing good food and coffee throughout the day.
•Great Jazz music from Jiri Kripac and the Red Hot Pappas.
•Excellent Club Merchandise display and sales.
•Charity raffle for Cystic Fibrosis NSW with the first prize being Porsche Cars Australia donation of a beautiful Porsche 911 watch which was won by one of our committee members Alan Taylor. Other prizes included Hot Laps around a race circuit at one of our club competition days; and free subscriptions to the magazine 911 and Porsche World.
•A good sum of money to be paid to our charity being the proceeds of the raffle and a donation made by our hire company Patty’s Hire with the free supply and erection of the Hospitality marquee. The Rotary Club will also pay all profits to charity.
Overall it was a great day for Porsche and for our club with fantastic support from volunteers club members assisting throughout.
Thanks one and all,
